South Korean newspaper The Elec revealed that Samsung has plans to sell around 400,000 Galaxy Rings at launch. The outlet, which is one of the main sources on Samsung, also reports that the production line is prepared to speed up manufacturing if the product exceeds expectations. Bolstering information from other leakers, The Elec says the smart ring will arrive in July, along with the new foldables.

The newspaper reported that mass production begins in the month of May in less than two months. Sales are expected to start in August.

That’s the advantage of being a global company, with a presence on every continent (except Antarctica, of course). Its main rival, Oura, doesn’t have that full reach even though it’s selling its smart rings on Amazon and importing to more countries. Following the comparison, Oura sold the 1 millionth ring in 2022, five years after launching the first device of its kind.

Another positive factor to have the agility to increase production is the size of the product. According to The Elec, Samsung has a good stock of the necessary components.

The Galaxy Ring marks Samsung’s debut in a new type of wearable device: the smart ring. The purpose of these products is to be a complement to the measurement of biometric data. In addition, it can be an alternative to smartwatches especially with those who find it uncomfortable to sleep with a smartwatch.

Being one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world, with factories in several countries, a strong brand, and an ecosystem of devices, it would be no surprise that Samsung hit 1 million Galaxy Rings sold in the first year of the product.
