Bombshell news in the tech world: Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the AI technology research and development company of violating contractual agreements. Courthouse News was the first site to report on the lawsuit, which was filed late Thursday night in San Francisco Superior Court. But there are new developments, as OpenAI’s response was not long in coming

Musk, who was one of the co-founders of OpenAI in 2015, says the company has moved away from its original mission of developing AI safely and ethically for the benefit of humanity. Here is an excerpt to confirm what has been reported.

“Contrary to the constitutive agreement, the defendants chose to use GPT-4 not for the benefit of humanity, but as a proprietary technology to maximize profits for literally the largest company in the world,”

On the contrary, according to Musk, OpenAI would transform itself into a for-profit company, partnering with Microsoft and putting profits and personal ambitions above its initial mission. Here is an excerpt to confirm what has been reported.

“OpenAI, Inc. has been transformed into a de facto closed-source subsidiary of the world’s largest technology company: Microsoft. Under his new board of directors, he is not only developing, but actually refining an AGI to maximize profits for Microsoft, rather than for the good of humanity.”

It remains to be seen what the arguments will be in support of the accusation and how OpenAI will defend itself in court.

It is worth mentioning that Musk has not stood by and watched the landscape of Big Tech companies trying to flood markets with AI solutions and a few months ago he presented Grok, the artificial intelligence project born within xAI.
