Article updated on 04/10/2021, at 17h40: as promised, Apple released a corrective operating system update of the lines iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro that fixes the bug with the use of the Apple Watch to unlock the device using Face ID. The update elevates iOS to version 15.0.1 and can be checked from General > Settings> Software Update > Download and Install.

Once updated, the iPhone 13 can be unlocked with the aid of apple watch/©

The problem:

With this update, Apple offered the ability to unlock the iPhone using an Apple Watch. With the mandatory use of masks indoors, such as public transport, this feature is really useful.

To turn off the feature that lets you unlock your iPhone 13 screen using your Apple Watch, follow the path below:

Open the Settings app;

Navigate to Face ID and code;

If Unlock with Apple Watch is on, just turn it off.

The iPhone 13 I’m currently using has already come with this option disabled by default.

If you receive the error message: “Could not communicate with Apple Watch,” keep the option turned off until the next nextpit © update

Last Sunday, I took a train ride and missed this feature a lot, because always having to enter the unlock code to activate the iPhone 13 screen is a dull task. I hope Apple will fix this problem as soon as possible as it is really useful on a day-to-day life.
