As a part of the expansion plan, the Company is in the process of conducting a live experiment of a feature that appears to have been developed especially for Company X staffers, a Zoom clone app called X Conferences.
A tool under testing
In a recent post on X, Chris Park, a company employee, stated that “the tool is being tested internally. ” Based on Park’s screen capture and description of the tool, it is a more primitive version of the multi-party video conferencing as compared to Zoom or Google Meet.
Upcoming features
Chris Park said this is probably the best tool for replacing Google Hangouts, Zoom, AWS Chime and of course Microsoft Teams….attrs such as the ability to pin speakers and putting enhanced notifications in the tool. The company is headed by Elon Musk, and he briefly responded to Park’s post, writes The Sun, adding a fire emoji.
Launch despite uncertain demand?
Other issues were detected by an app researcher Nima Owji earlier this month; he noted that X Conference will support spatial audio, and the app will include built-in subtitles. Nevertheless, taking into consideration these features, one can state that there is no evidence pointing to the existence of demand for using the video conferencing platform owned by X as a platform for potential consumers other than the employees of X.
There is still so much speculation as to who is X targeting with this new feature. However, this would not be the first time that the company will be entering areas that are actually business friendly functions. Last year, X introduced a job search feature and Elon Musk also mentioned that he wants X to create a ‘cool’ LinkedIn.
