Google has announced three changes to make Chrome’s search suggestions more useful. From now on, they will bring related subjects and more images, going beyond autocomplete. In addition, the recommendations will depend less on the internet, working even when the internet is bad.

The first change is to include suggestions based on what other people are looking for. This new feature only works on the desktop version, and the user needs to be logged in to their Google account.

In the example given by the company, if you recently searched for “japchae”, when you open a new tab, Chrome will be able to suggest other dishes of Korean cuisine. In addition, terms that have a high search volume may appear.

On Android and iOS, Chrome will also start showing more product images in search suggestions, just below the address bar.

Currently, they only appear when there is an image related to the exact product you entered. From now on, when there are product suggestions that complete what you are typing, the images will also appear in the list.

Finally, Google has improved Chrome’s offline capabilities for Android and iOS. With this, search suggestions appear even when the connection is poor. They will also work in incognito mode, without having to exchange data with the company’s servers to receive recommendations.

Chrome also has AI features on the way
Prior to the improvements to search suggestions, Google announced new features involving artificial intelligence.

One of these features is the automatic organization of tabs, grouping those that have similar subjects. Another is “Help me write,” which uses the Gemini model to help the user write by turning simple requests or questions into text.
