If Google decided to use the same time window chosen in previous years for the Pixel 7a and previous generations, the Google I/O conference to be held next May could be the right occasion for the launch of the third component of the Pixel 8 range, the Pixel 8a.
There are already many rumors circulating about the Pixel 8a in recent months. In addition to various confirmations on the name, acronym, and design, which came via the alleged sales packaging, we also saw a “dummy” last November and detailed renders that revealed details on the size and placement of the keys.
On the hardware side, however, the Pixel 8a – codenamed Akita – is expected to feature a Tensor G3 processor, 8GB of RAM, a 6.1-inch OLED display and, of course, Android 14 as its native operating system. In some benchmarks, the Pixel 8a reportedly scored single-core 1,218 and multi-core scored 3,175.
To all this, in the past few hours, Roland Quandt of WinFuture has also added some information on the possible selling prices of the Pixel 8a, as well as colors and memory cuts available. According to Quandt, initial information received from German retailers would indicate two memory configurations and at least four different color variants.
Relative to the price, the bar will probably rise a bit compared to the Pixel 7a which, remember, started at 499 euros. According to Quandt, the Pixel 8a will start at €569.90 for the version with 128GB of storage. For the version with 256GB of storage, on the other hand, the list price should be around 630 euros. Obviously, these figures are still to be considered “preliminary” and subject to change.
In terms of colours, however, the Google Pixel 8a is expected to be available in four colour variants at launch: ‘Obsidian’ (black), ‘Porcelain’ (beige), ‘Bay’ (light blue) and ‘Mint’ (light green). However, it would appear that not all colors will be available in both memory variants. Currently, in fact, the model with 256 GB of storage would only be listed in obsidian/black.
