Amazon announces a novelty concerning the Alexa virtual assistant: from today it will be possible in fact also in Italy to choose between the original voice and an unpublished one with a male timbre. Changing on Echo devices – including the latest next-generation Dot and Studio – is very simple, just say “Alexa, change your voice” and you’re done. It should be noted that the activation words Alexa, Computer, Echo and Amazon can be used in both cases.
And if once we change voice we miss the old, dear original Alexa? No problem, our choice is retroactive and can be changed again: it is enough to reformulate the question “Alexa, change your voice” and everything will return as before. In other words, the same order given works in one direction or the other – at least as long as there are two voices.
If you want to set the new voice or return to the original via the Alexa app installed on our smartphone just follow these simple steps:
open the Alexa app installed on your smartphone
select Devices (bottom)
select the Echo device to which you want to change or restore the voice in the Favorites or, alternatively, select All devices and tap on the desired Echo device
open the Settings menu from the top right gear
scroll down to Alexa’s Voice
select Original or New
