WhatsApp Web does not work? How to solve the most common problems

Facebook confirmed that the issues were related to dns server and BGP protocol failures.

According to the website DownDetector, at least WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Messenger remained inaccessible early yesterday afternoon, around 12:40 pm.

Initially, mobile apps and desktop versions showed the classic upload icon, but they didn’t update the page or stay off the air.

The company reported about 30 minutes after the first reports of the service’s downfall.

WhatsApp, following Facebook, also posted a quick note on Twitter.

Facebook confirms DNS and BGP server issues

In an official statement, Facebook reported that the outage was the result of DNS and BGP routing problems.

DNS acts as a translator for an easier-to-remember URL. In a practical way, instead of you entering the IP “78.47.255.91” to find the , just type “www.nextpit.com.br”. DNS is the system that makes the connection between the IP and the most friendly domain.

By deleting this BGP bridge, Facebook’s DNS servers and their services have become unreachable.

In a statement, the company apologized for the inconvenience caused yesterday:

People and businesses around the world trust us every day to stay connected.
