Like every week, you recommend five apps and games, paid or free, for iOS or Android that we think are worth downloading from the Apple AppStore or Google Play Store.

DAZN

With the start of the German championship – and although my club has fallen to the second division – I am excited about football again. I hope you forgive me for sharing my enthusiasm with the “Bundesliga” here, but anyway, I would recommend an app for the perfect enjoyment of football. The DAZN is the name of the channel that is currently passing the German league games is my choice to open this article.

In addition, DAZN also offers many other football leagues: such as France and Spain, for example. Yes, you can see Neymar and Messi playing together. It also offers coverage of other sports, including motor sports and sports documentaries. DAZN is currently available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Brazil, Spain, Italy and Japan.

The app requires you to have a subscription to be able to navigate through the huge offer. Unfortunately, the monthly price ends up being a little high, are $ 19.90 per month. The reason for this, according to DAZN is that the offer has been expanded, for example, with more Bundesliga and Champions League matches, and with Eurosport channels.

If you are a sports fan and enjoy watching tennis, darts or american football, as well as football, you can certainly make the amount invested here worth. If you’re still not sure if DAZN is something for you, you can get a month’s free trial.

The app is very well organized/©

The application is well structured. On the homepage, you can see what’s happening right now and what broadcasts are popping up soon. You can also be reminded about certain games and activate a filter so that only the desired sports are displayed.

I’ve noticed the flow on both wlan and mobile data and both have been very reliable so far. If desired, you can enable data saving mode for both the mobile network and wlan, so that you use a smaller amount of data. As far as my personal pleasure on TV is concerned, I have to admit I prefer to watch sports on the big screen. But if that’s not possible, the DAZN app is a great alternative to when you’re on the go – as long as you have a stable and fast network, of course.

Curio

Curio – an indication of my colleague Camila Rinaldi – is also not free, but is worth the money invested. The concept is excellent and combines high-level journalism with the podcast boom. Curio subscribers have access to more than 50 publications (unfortunately English only). Among them are many top-notary publications such as the Wall Street Journal, MIT Technology Review, The New York Post, Wired, Vulture and many, many others.

The trick is that these articles be read to you. You can choose as many items as you want from this cured offer, which can be heard directly or downloaded. Depending on the length of the article, audios can last between 5 and 30 minutes. You can gather your favorite topics and receive recommendations based on your preferences.

In addition to the “For You” area with your selected magazines, of course you can also browse all offers. You can also create playlists.

The app itself is completely free of advertising and the first ten articles are free. You can listen to a maximum of ten articles, after which you will be asked to pay. You can pay a little less than $8 per month or $60 per year, approximately $40 or $320.

If you do not cancel your subscription 24 hours before it expires, it will then automatically renew. However, you can set your subscription to automatically expire from the settings.

Calm

Now I’m going to take you on a journey to happiness. Okay, maybe that’s a little overthe top, but calm actually wants to make you happier. The app is one of the most successful in the wellness game, which is impressively proven by a rating of 4.3 stars and over 400,000 reviews.

The feeling of happiness begins right when starting the app, when we are greeted by pleasant sounds. While you are looking for a certain exercise or music, you can choose different scenarios as a background, such as beaches and listen to the sound of the waves.

Among the options, we have more extensive programs, and many meditation exercises lasting between 5 and 25 minutes, and even beginners in meditation are considered.

What problem do you want to deal with? Do you sleep badly? Do you want to reduce stress, increase your self-esteem or body awareness? There are exercises for all purposes. The app has a really nice visual design and you can find your way right away.

However, the direct requirement of a subscription to the premium version was not conducive to my feeling of happiness. However, you need it to be able to consume all this content. Here, too, there is a seven-day trial during which you can try the entire offer. If you enjoy the experience, you can enjoy the fun for R$ 28.90 per month. I think it’s a fair price, but it’s definitely worth taking a look at the trial version before.

Dogname

Dogname’s name says pretty much everything: dog names. Can you imagine choosing your pet’s name on Tinder? Congratulations, so you already understood how the app works. After the free installation, you have to invite someone with whom you share a pet to make the choice of the name together.

There are over 30,000 dog names available, which you can see on individual cards, including an explanation of the name. You don’t like the name? Swipe left. Did you love the name? Swipe right. If your contact also passes this name to the right, you have a match!

A wonderfully meaningless app, but one that I’ll definitely use if I think about getting a pet at some point. Here, you pay for the service by consuming advertising. There are also in-app purchases, for example, for filters to sort dog names by breeds, syllables, or alphabetically, among other things.

Every cell phone on this planet should have this app! / © DoSomethingGood

Game of Shots

Taking advantage that in the coming days I will have two events on the agenda – following all the rules and rules in force always – I want to nominate the Game of Shots. The game brings together — in English and Spanish — several different drinking games for up to eight people. You can choose individually and then play 100 rounds of Taboo, in which you have to explain a word without being allowed to use certain terms.

Or you can choose the Hot Cocktail, where different categories are mixed and the whole story becomes more varied. Each game has four levels, the last of which is a premium level by which you have to pay money.

The app has in-app ads and purchases. So to unlock the levels you need to pay from $ 6.49, or you can unlock all content of the premium version. But that costs $30.99 a month – and I don’t drink that much to make it worth your while.

I’m still not sure if such an app doesn’t glorify alcohol too much. Also, I think it’s more fun to talk to people than to stay around the smartphone. But if you like party games, need inspiration while drinking and is fluent in English, you can try.
